IN HOME
Hello Dog Parents! Thank you for your patience. We’re doing our best to keep up with training requests during this busy time. We’re currently scheduling 1-3 weeks out. If you need immediate assistance for your dog, please consider virtual training. Our virtual trainers are second-to-none and can help your dog overcome even the most challenging behaviors.
We work with all breeds, temperaments, and ages. Whether you’re looking to teach your dog basic manners and obedience, or work through challenging behavior concerns, we are able to assist you with these matters. We do not work with dogs that have bitten another dog or person.
We offer private, in-home dog and puppy training in the following communities: Coachella, Indio, La Quinta, Indian Wells, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Cat City and Palm Springs, Redlands and Yucaipa. Also the greater San Diego area.
Why In-Home Dog Training is the Best Option for Many Dogs.
Dogs are “situation-specific” learners. This means that they often exhibit a specific behavior in a specific environment under specific circumstances. Dogs must also “unlearn” unwanted behaviors in the same environment where they practice those behaviors.
In-home training can better address problem behaviors including:
-
house-soiling
-
nuisance barking
-
destructive chewing
-
puppy nipping
-
jumping on people
-
home manners
-
resource guarding (objects, food, spaces, people)
-
counter surfing
-
fear/anxiety
-
leash reactivity
-
dog-dog or dog-human aggression
-
separation anxiety
-
digging
-
chasing
-
bolting outside
-
rough play with young children
-
focus/distraction issues
In-home training is also the best way to prepare a dog for upcoming changes in the home environment. Initial introductions often set the tone for future interactions. Whether you’re expecting a new baby or planning to bring a new pet into your pack, it’s important to prepare Fido ahead of time so that introductions are as smooth as possible.
Every dog is a unique individual, which means the cookie-cutter approach is ineffective. All sessions are tailored to the needs of your dog. One-on-one, customized lessons are the only effective way to resolve the great majority of behavioral concerns.
Please note that all training methods and tools are dog-friendly, kind, and effective. Unlike others, we will never use shock collars, force, pain, or intimidation to train.

Advantages of Private, In-Home Dog Training:
-
You and your dog get one-on-one instruction, and personalized training. Think of us as your personal coach and dog training partner!
-
The whole family gets to be involved (kids included)! This is important so that everyone is consistent with the dog.
-
Your dog learns quickly when he’s on familiar turf; once training has taken hold, we add real world distractions and confirm all behaviors
-
Private lessons in your home are convenient and comfortable. They’re also a great option for those whose schedules prohibit regular, weekly attendance in a group class
-
Private training is the perfect solution for highly distractible dogs that don’t do well in a class setting
Initial Evaluation:
-
The fee for the in-home evaluation is $95, and requires one hour. There is a $25 fee for each additional dog in the home that requires training. (There is NO additional per dog fee charged for training sessions/packages). The fee for dogs that exhibit aggression/reactivity with other dogs or humans, (excluding puppy play nipping and mild leash reactivity), extreme fear, and/or timidity, skittishness, or clinical separation anxiety is $175, and the evaluation requires approximately two hours to complete.
-
We’d like to assist everyone, however, due to a variety of factors, we don’t have the capacity or ability to accept all cases. Unfortunately, we are unable to take severe bite cases. Please also note that weekend and evening appointments are in high demand, and as a result, availability may be limited. We’re often booked out 3 weeks or longer on weekends and weekday evenings.
-
The purpose of the evaluation is to learn more about you and your dog(s). We need to observe your dog in his home environment, gather input from you and your family, fully understand your training objectives, and take a complete history prior to recommending any training package.
-
While some companies offer a free “consultation,” this is usually either a sales pitch or a “shock collar” session. We recommend that you ask questions before agreeing to a free in-home consultation.
